@DrMikeRobinson
Welcome to Parents and PGCPS: Conversations for the Engaged Parent and Dedicated Educator. I am your host Dr. Michael Robinson. Over the past several days, I have embarked on a journey across our beautifully diverse communities to talk with parents/families, educators, community and civic leaders regarding their views and perspectives about the future of education in Prince George’s County.
One of those voices is that of Mr. Elliott M. Reed.

Elliott M. Reed is a father of two. Elliott Reed graduated from Central High School in Capitol Heights, Maryland, wrestling, playing tennis, and was involved in Junior ROTC and the percussion section of band while there. Elliott is an Eagle Scout and is active in the Catholic Church. Elliott Reed earned his B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, where he formally concentrated in Law and Society. This entailed passing law courses in the prestigious Cornell Law School as well as a range of psychology, history, philosophy, economics, and independent courses. He worked his way through school. Elliott graduated in the Executive Cohort of the Master of Public Management from University of Maryland, College Park. Elliott holds advanced graduate certificates in Project Management from George Washington University, as well as Towson University. He earned these as a single father, with no loans or child support. He survived being hit by a car in June 2015 . Elliott Reed has worked for the United States Government as a project manager at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the Office of Regulatory Affairs and the Office of Crisis Management. Elliott also worked for a women-owned and led business as a program manager for the Department of Health and Human Services. Elliott was appointed Deputy Director of the Maryland Governor's Workforce Development Board and has also served as a business consultant for the Prince George's County Economic Development Corporation. He has written about his graduate work studying the share/gig economy -- including time as a Lyft and Uber driver! He has done diverse jobs such as realtor, lifeguard, construction worker, and more. Elliott is an active mentor and supports family and youth activities, with a firm belief that involving people of all ages in community activities engages them and creates opportunities to learn culture and have fun! When not volunteering, he enjoys amateur automotive work, is handy around the house, preparing family meals, and is working on building up his Spanish.
